What is Home-Care PT?

If you have a problem that limits your functional mobility, you may benefit from the skilled services of a physical therapist. At Capital Region Physical Therapy, we provide outpatient PT services; people come to our clinic for treatment for their problem. But what if a patient is unable to travel to us? What happens then?

If you are unable to leave your home for PT, you may benefit from home-care physical therapy. Home-care physical therapy involves a PT coming to your home to help you move better and feel better. The therapist will evaluate your condition and prescribe exercises to help you gain strength, range of motion, and endurance. He or she can also work with you to improve your functional mobility.

Not everyone qualifies for in-home PT. Essentially, you must be home bound. If travelling to a PT is burdensome due to your condition or personal travel situation, then you may qualify for home-care PT. Once you get better and can travel to the clinic, you can then stop in-home therapy and come to outpatient rehab (perhaps at our facility).

While we do not provide home-care services, we know some really good folks who do. If you think you may benefit from home PT after an injury or surgery, give us a call at (518) 439-5006 and we can put you in touch with visiting PT services in our area.
